Dear Patrons,

It is hard to believe that we will complete our first semester on Friday January 22nd. It is amazing how quickly the time has passed.  This is an important date because it is the semester grade that becomes part of the official transcript and record.  These grades determine whether a student has earned credit and it is a reflection of how well they learned the material.

One of the goals that we have at CMHS is to support our student‘s learning and increase student achievement. Our staff has worked hard to develop lesson plans and learning objectives that reflect state standards and that are both relevant and rigorous.  They have implemented many of the Effective Teaching Strategies that we have spent staff development time on at our early release Wednesdays learning how to do what we do better.

Through the hard work of the students and staff at CMHS we had the highest number of students earn Honor roll status. This is evidenced by the fact that we had one hundred students in grades 7-12 earn a grade point average of 3.25 or better for first quarter. We had forty students with a grade point average of 3.5 or better for the same time period. We are excited about the trend and effort our students are making.

We are proud of the number of students that are currently on our Honor Roll but we are also excited by the reduction in the number of students with one or more failures. This number has been impacted through the implementation the Eligibility and Tutoring program. Many students are taking advantage of the voluntary tutoring program to get help and complete their work.

We are proud of what we have accomplished but now is not the time to relax. Our staff and students will continue to work hard and finish the semester strong.
